If you’ve ever wanted to dive deeper
than your snorkel allowed, or if you’d
like to stay underwater but without a
bulky scuba tank strapped to your
back, then a Brownie’s Third Lung is
the answer. Known as “surface-
supplied-air” or “hookah diving,” a
floating air pump provides air through
a comfortable mask and allows up to
three divers to reach depths of 90 feet.
Because the pump floats freely, Third
Lung divers can tow it along a reef
without any distance constraints. The
air line is also the tow line, linked to a
waist belt for freedom of movement
underwater. The Third Lung doesn’t
require scuba certification or any of
the cumbersome equipment needed to
refill tanks on the yacht, making it
compact and easy to use. With either
gas (longer running) or electric
(quieter) power, the Third Lung easily
can be shipped to yachts in most
